Solar Projects

A Team Effort

About the Project

When we first met this customer he warned us that he had a unique home, but we accepted the challenge! We learned that adding the weight of the solar panels could result in structural concerns for the house. We were able to receive a plan from a Structural Engineer that would reinforce the roof structure, but this had to be completed during the process of putting a new roof on. The timing and execution was critical. Our engineers worked closely with the homeowner to come up with a plan that could be executed while the roofers were on site, would satisfy the structural concerns AND keep the project on budget. We are fortunate to work with a homeowner like Neal who knew his home inside and out and was willing to go the extra mile in order to find a solution. This project will always bring a smile to our faces because we overcame difficult challenges and provided excellent value to the homeowner.

Customer Review: “I had talked to several solar companies with mixed impressions when I met up with the Nickels group. They answered my questions, and when they didn’t know the answer, they promised to get back to me, and they did. Further, I felt they were giving me honest, straightforward answers, not a sales pitch. It turns out that my unique house construction (no traditional ‘rafters’ to secure to) required extra research and brainstorming with their structural engineer to come up with a workable solution we could all live with. Bottom line is that I got exactly what I wanted. Even when we identified during installation, that we could add two more panels (between skylights), they handled it professionally and I got a great installation. These guys were great to work with.”
